WHAT IS SANDPLAY THERAPY

Sandplay therapy is an analytically oriented therapy influenced by Carl Jung and developed by Dora Kalff in the early twentieth century. Dora Kalff was taught by Carl Jung and went to England to study with Pediatrician Margaret Lowenfeld who was the first practitioner to work with toys in sand. Dora Kalff went on to develop sandplay therapy based upon Jungian Analytical Psychology.

In sandplay therapy the client creates sand pictures in the sand using miniatures from the therapist’s collection. the miniatures are symbolic and represent objects from the real and unreal world.

Sandplay Therapy has been validated in research as a very effective technique in therapy. It may be utilized by adults, adolescents, and children.
